PokerStars Sunday Storm Has $1 Million Guarantee

Sunday Storm

The Sunday Million is PokerStars’ biggest weekly tournament thanks to the $109 buy-in event featuring a $1 million guaranteed prize pool. This week sees another tournament, the Sunday Storm, boast of a seven-figure guarantee, except this one only costs $11 to enter.

PokerStars’s Sunday Storm celebrates its eighth anniversary in June and the world’s biggest online poker site loves to boost the guarantees of the tournaments when they reach milestones. The Sunday Million celebrated its 13th anniversary in March and PokerStars guaranteed $10 million would be won, now it’s the Sunday Storm that is having its time in the limelight.

For only an $11 buy-in, PokerStars players who enter the Sunday Storm will be battling it out for a share of a $1 million guaranteed prize pool, which has $100,000 reserved for the eventual champion. Cards are in the air from 2:00 p.m. ET on Sunday 16th June and a field of at least 100,000 players is needed to ensure PokerStars do not endure an overlay.

While the $11 buy-in leaves the Sunday Storm door open to almost everyone, daily satellites costing only $2.20 are available, each awarding 500 seats to the $1 million guaranteed target event.

Special Spin & Go tournaments have also been created that give players the opportunity to turn a mere $0.75 into a cash prize of $1.50, $2.20 satellite tickets, an $11 Sunday Storm ticket, or a whopping $7,500 haul.

Spin & Go are PokerStars’ “jackpot sit & go” tournaments where the prize pool is randomly determined before the first hands are dealt. The tournaments are played on three-handed tables and to hyper-turbo blinds, leading to an intense, exciting experience that can yield large profits if the top prize pool multipliers are triggered.

Only this week, a partypoker player literally hit the jackpot and turned $5 into $1 million. James Carmichael from the United Kingdom was the man who became poker’s latest millionaire, and while these Sunday Storm Spin & Go tournament awards much smaller prizes, winning an $11 ticket for $0.75 and then going on to be triumphant in the Sunday Storm for $100,000 or more would ensure a huge return on investment.
