Supplies You Need to Play

If you’re playing Caribbean stud poker with friends and family, you’ll need a dealer, cards and betting chips. If you’ve decided to play online or on mobile, you need an internet connection/data and a device to play on.

How to Play Caribbean Stud Poker

The player will ante up in the designated box and be dealt five cards. The dealer will then be dealt five cards, one face up, four face-down. Players will then either bet or fold. Next, the dealer will reveal their cards and pay the winner(s).

Some known strategies when playing are folding if dealt anything less than an A-K and play with a hand that has a pair or better.

Hand Rankings

Caribbean stud poker follows traditional hand rankings, which are as follows:

Ranking	Hand	Description	Example Hand
#1	Royal Flush	A straight from 10 to Ace, all the same suit.
#2	Straight Flush	Any cards in consecutive order that are all of same suit.
#3	Four of a Kind	Four of the same card.
#4	Full House	One pair and three of the same card.
#5	Flush	All cards are the same suit.
#6	Straight	Cards are in consecutive order.
#7	Three of a Kind	Three of the same card.
#8	Two Pairs	One pair of one card and one pair of another card.
#9	Pair	Two of the same card.
#10	High Card	None of the hands above, relying on the highest card in your hand.

Caribbean Stud Poker Terms

Ante: a stake put up by a player in poker.

Fold: to discard one’s hand and forfeit interest in the current pot.

Qualifying Hand: means the dealer’s hand holds a rank of ace, king, or better.
